royal ascot

Horse racing fans from the UK and across the world all eager await Royal Ascot. Established in 1711 by Queen Anne (hence its royal connection), it’s to this day still one of the most prestigious horse racing events in the racing calendar. Top jockeys, trainers, owners and of course horses all head to Royal Ascot to show they’ve got what it takes to beat the best of the best.  In part due to the royal family attending, it’s also something of a fashion showcase, with elegance and eye catching hats on display. First and foremost it’s a racing spectacular, but it’s certain of the social calendar of many also.

Much like other racing festivals, it attracts those looking to have a punt too. There are a whole host of unmissbale races too (Royal Ascot Group 1 races) such as the The Queen Anne Stakes (for older horses), the prestigious The St James’s Palace Stakes, The Coronation Stakes, The Diamond Jubilee Stakes and of course at 2 miles 4 furlongs The Gold Cup . The latter, the jewel in the crown, of Royal Ascot, takes place on ladies day and draws huge on course as well as TV audiences. The next Royal Ascot five day fesyival takes place from Tuesday 16th June to Saturday 20th June 2026. It will be broadband, free to air and live on ITV.
